BETWEEN SCIENCE, ART AND CRAFT

Cyanotype is an early monochrome photographic process, recognizable by its
unique Prussian blue color.
Invented in 1842 by British scientist Sir John F.W. Herschel, it was used for botanical
research by Anna Atkins (1799-1871) before being more recently introduced into art.

JOUME scarves are dyed using this process, giving each one a singular blue.
It takes three days to make them, following a very specific choreography whose final
result depends on one element in particular: the sun. A variation in UV intensity produces a deeper or shallower blue, making each scarf unique.
